Specialized Trauma Informed Therapy for Anxiety
Therapy for Individuals 18 and older
Anxiety disorders can severely impact someone’s ability to perform daily tasks or stay connected to the present. Engaging in activities remotely related to the trigger can cause debilitating symptoms that threaten to take over their thought processes and inhibit rational thinking or behavior.
Common types of anxiety include:
- Generalized anxiety
- Social anxiety
- Separation anxiety
- Obsessive-compulsive disorders
- Panic disorders
- Fears and phobias
People typically experience anxiety over things that have not happened yet, anticipating what could go wrong. During therapy, clients learn to recognize thought patterns associated with anxiety and how they can implement solutions that prevent repetitive thinking or manage worry-ridden thoughts.
How Is Anxiety Treated?
There are two parts to treating anxiety. First, figuring out what causes it in the first place, such as past trauma or repetitive thinking traps—and second, developing ways of coming back to the present moment. Therapy helps bring awareness to both the triggers and the symptoms. I help my clients learn to recognize when anxiety is influencing their thoughts and how to use mindfulness to realize that everything is okay and manageable in the present moment. With the proper tools, clients can recover from anxiety disorders and become anxiety-free.
